No toxic substances found in suspicious letter sent to Victor Harbor police station
Publish Time: 06/06/14

Police say it appears to be a co-incidence that a police officer fell ill after opening an envelope sent to a police station south of Adelaide.

The VictorHarbor station was evacuated and cordoned off shortly before midday, when the female officer complained of feeling sick.

The officer had just opened an envelope, which a witness said had been sent from China.

The premises was evacuated and the immediate area cordoned off while Hazmat officers in protective gear investigated.

Two officers were taken to SouthCoastHospital as a precaution but later released.

The envelope was taken away for testing by the hazardous materials investigation team, but police say no toxic substances were found.

Police say they still coped with call-outs to other matters in the VictorHarbor area despite the emergency.
